POMEPS Announcements – Fall 2021

Greetings!

POMEPS is off to an exciting start for the Fall 2021 semester. We are thrilled to share with you our latest publications and announcements of upcoming opportunities.

Latest Publications:

POMEPS, in partnership with the Center for Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law, and the Global Digital Policy Incubator, released POMEPS Studies 43: Digital Activism and Authoritarian Adaptation in the Middle East in August 2021. The publication brings together more than a dozen scholars and practitioners with deep experience in digital policy and activism, some focused on the Middle East and others offering a global and comparative perspective. POMEPS, in partnership with Program on African Social Research, released POMEPS Studies 44 – Racial Formations in Africa and the Middle East: A Transregional Approach in September 2021. The publication brings together nearly two dozen scholars from across multiple disciplines to explore the historical and contemporary politics of racial formation across Africa and the Middle East. POMEPS is very excited to announce the POMEPS Middle East Political Science Podcast: Season 11, which launched on September 9, 2021. This season’s podcast includes new theme music from Bashir Saade and Farah Kaddour, a new segment discussing “hot topics” in Middle East political science, and the returning popular book conversations and article interview segments. Upcoming Opportunities:

POMEPS announces a call for proposals for POMEPS Travel – Research – Engagement (TRE) Grants for 2022. The deadline to apply is October 15, 2021. More information is available here.

POMEPS invites submissions from scholars at all career stages on issues related to Environmental Politics, Climate Change, & Conflict in the MENA. The deadline to apply is October 15, 2021. More information is available here.

POMEPS is happy to announce that the popular Virtual Workshop Series is back for Spring 2022. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2021. More information is available here.
