The Institute for Middle East Studies at the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs solicits applications for the position of Research Professor and Associate Director. This non-tenure track position will be for a dual research and administrative position, with the possibility of teaching. The position’s responsibilities include assisting the IMES Director in administering academic programs, organizing public events, coordinating research, working with IMES faculty, preparing and administering grants, working with the Project on Middle East Political Science, and other tasks related to advancing the intellectual mission of the Institute. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in an academic field relevant to the mission of the Institute for Middle East Studies, preferably with a specialty in the politics or history of the modern Middle East, competency in a modern Middle Eastern language, and a proven track record of academic productivity and public engagement. The Elliott School offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. Funding is available for this position through December 2013, with the expectation of renewal beyond that date.
