Call for Proposals: Environmental Politics, Climate Change, & Conflict in the MENA

Climate change, water shortages, soil degradation, pollution and waste disposal are only some of the environmental issues undermining health and wellbeing of citizens and ecosystems in the Middle East.  These environmental challenges are inherently political, posing severe challenges to governance and basic human security.  Environmental issues impose differentials impact across countries, sectors and social classes.

POMEPS invites submissions from scholars at all career stages on issues related to the politics of the environment and public health in the Middle East and North Africa.  Papers of approximately 2500 words will be discussed in a two-day workshop, to be held virtually over Zoom on February 10 and 11, 2022, and then revised for publication in an edition of the open access POMEPS STUDIES series.

To apply, please complete this Google Form form and submit a paper title, abstract, and CV via this link. The deadline to apply is October 15, 2021.
