The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS), is now accepting applications for the fifth round of the International Winter School on “Social Media, Surveillance and Societies of Control”.
The winter school will be held from 6-11 January 2024, at Arab Center premises in Qatar. The registration is open to PhD students and early career researchers in the social sciences and humanities.
The topic of the fifth annual International Winter School is “Social Media, Surveillance and Societies of Control”. It addresses the interaction between social media, surveillance, and control by governments and corporations and the vulnerability of popular culture to manipulation and control through social media. The International Winter School will provide participants substantive knowledge unavailable in their home institutions and countries from lectures delivered by well-known experts and will provide and open space for participants to present their research and receive feedback.
The ACRPS will accept applications through the online form, accompanied by a research proposal (250-500 words) and an up-to-date academic CV no later than 8 July 2023. All of the Winter School requirements, and deadlines can be found on the call for papers page.
Registration for the Winter School is free. The ACRPS will provide accommodation for all participants. Grants assisting with the cost of travel will be awarded on a competitive basis.
