APSA Short Course on Teaching About the Middle East and North Africa

The MENA Politics Section invites participants in the 2019 APSA Annual Conference to enroll in the Short Course “Teaching About the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).” This full day course, led by Gamze Cazdar and Sultan Tepe, is designed for advanced graduate students and faculty who teach MENA related issues in general courses such as Comparative Politics and International Relations. The short course will offer detailed and practical advice for instructors to challenge common misunderstandings and biases concerning the MENA. It will feature a range of speakers on critical topics, such as women’s status, media, Islamism, and politics. It will provide resources, such as reading lists and ready to use materials and slides for use in class.  Please consider attending and spread the word among colleagues.
